The Aktion club announced that they would not attend this year's Ohio convention. They are deeply upset with the way it is run and consider it a waste of time and money.
The induction of Stacey Brunswick and Bob Mueller will take place at next weeks meeting. Please try to attend.
Important Upcoming Event.
Ben Amstutz introduced today's speaker the Executive Director of the Mercer County chapter of the American Red Cross, Deb Hemmelgarn.
Deb Hemmelgarn
Deb spoke about all the various things the Red Cross does, and does, without receiving any Federal funds. The only paid position for Mercer County is hers. All others are staffed by volunteers. I have included 2 brochures plus there is a lot more to peruse at their web site: Mercer County Red Cross
Kiwanis Education.
15. Until 1962, Kiwanis clubs were limited to the United States and Canada. But club delegates to the 1961 convention in Toronto approved the extension of Kiwanis to the rest of the world. In April 1962, the Kiwanis Club of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, became the first club to be organized outside the two founding nations. Today, Kiwanis clubs are active in more than 70 nations and geographic areas.
