Meeting.

President Rosengarten opened the meeting in the traditional manner. Happy/Sad Dollars were collected.

President Ken spoke about having 3 membership drive days in May in lieu of just one. These days are May 8, 15, and 22. Each member is urged to bring a prospective member to one of those days.

The Super intendent of the Celina City Schools payed us a brief visit to inform us about an upcoming renewal levy which should comprise about 8 % of the operating budget. This levy, unlike a bond levy, will be an earned income levy and will not affect retirees. Yard signs will be available this Friday.

Teresa Smith brought the following flyer about a bingo to raise money for the fight against cancer. All you Bingo enthusiast should have a ball.

The first name suggested for the organization that became Kiwanis was “Benevolent Order Brothers.” But Ottie Robertson, a charter member of the Detroit No. 1 club, didn’t like it. “It seems to me,” he said, “that Benevolent Order Brothers is a mighty peculiar name for an organization of businessmen. Who wants to be a BOB?”
