Meeting.
President Eric Kramer opened the meeting in the traditional manner. Happy/Sad Dollars were collected.
Lt. Governor's Visit.
Jeff Schulman, this year's Lt. Governor of Division 2, paid us a visit. He outlined the division's goal of one new club per year and, also, increase of membership by all clubs within the division. He said that a new club to be built in Spencerville is in the works and will, hopefully, be concluded by the end of this calendar year. He also stressed the importance of inter-clubs to pick up new ideas of projects we could do to serve our community. He mentioned the fact that matching funds might be available from the Ohio District Foundation. Of special interest was the idea of creating a satellite club for new members who cannot attend regular noon-time meetings.
Healthy Kids Day
Those of you that have volunteered please be there by 0930 November 2nd, 2013 at the Coldwater High School. The event runs from 10 AM until noon.
Program.
Suzanne Murlin introduced her speaker, the director of the Mercer County Historical Museum, Joyce Alig.
Coat Day.
Ken Rosengarten, Joyce Jansen, Stacey Brunswick, Marjorie Stachler, Linda Goodwin and Hans Rehrmann attended. Dave Smith provided coat racks and a truck to take all supplies, as well as, left-over coats to their destinations.
As usual, people started lining up, in very cold and windy weather, by 8:30 AM. By 9 AM opening time we must have had a 100 people or more. It looks like we did well and special kudos go to Joyce and Stacey for all the work they put into this to make it the great success that it turned out to be.
It was suggested to shorten the distribution next year by 1 hour since we only had 3 customers during the last hour.

Suzanne Murlin introduced her speaker, the director of the Mercer County Historical Museum, Joyce Alig.
Joyce Alig
Joyce talked about her struggle with the Mercer County bureaucracy in keeping the Mercer county Historical Museum going. She has been there since 1973. Gave her notice that she would retire in 2004. She was not replaced, so she stayed on.
The museum is located at: 130 East Market, P.O. Box 512, Celina, OH 45822 and open by Appointment, and Special Exhibits throughout the year. The museum provides area historical exhibits. Open Houses with Special Exhibits are held throughout the year, e.g. Prehistoric Artifacts; Antique Guns; Post Cards; Sports Hall of Fame, etc.
Over two dozen Western Ohio and Mercer County Local History Books have been printed by the Historical Society. A weekly newspaper column is written by Joyce who has the best Archival Collection of Mercer County History in existence.
Unfortunately Joyce was only given about 10 minutes for her presentation.

She mentioned that the district has lost 500 members last year and that new club building, as well as, increasing membership is of prime importance.
Former Lt. Governor Denny Elwer of the Delphos club and district chair for the Eliminate project, spoke about the importance of the project and the need to donate. He stated that Ohio is in 4th place world-wide after Florida.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Article 1.
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
Kiwanis Education.
30. Key Club International is Kiwanis’ oldest continuing youth-service program. The first Key Club “for key boys” was organized by the Kiwanis Club of Sacramento, California, in 1925. The concept of a service club for high school students spread to other Kiwanis clubs, and Key Club became an official program of Kiwanis International by 1942. Today, more than 200,000 young men and women belong to Key Clubs in more than 4,500 high schools throughout the US, Canada, and a growing number of other nations. Key Club International is run largely by its members, who conduct conventions and elect officers each year at the district and International levels.
Quotes.
Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.
