Meeting.
President Eric Kramer opened the meeting in the traditional manner. Happy/Sad dollars were collected.
Hans relayed a request from the Aktion club to sell tickets for their scholarship drawing at our Lake-Fest food stand. The members present foresee no problems with that.
We also discussed if we will furnish a food stand at this year's Governor's Cup Regatta. It was decided to do a further fact gathering before we make a decision.
Program.
Ruth Link introduced today's speaker, Lisa Niekamp-Erwin.
Lisa spoke in depth about a planned addition to the Mercer County fairgrounds called the Pace Center.
It
is planned to be a multipurpose undertaking housing a conference
center, a place for horse shows and equine assisted therapy similar to
the one in Cridersville, it is supported by Wright State's agri
programs. So far they have received a 1.5 million grant in matching
funds from the state. As of now 1 million has been raised. They plan on a
ground breaking this Summer. The above link is a detailed, 14 page,
description of the plan in PDF format.55. The sixth Object of Kiwanis International is “To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.”
Quotes.
- "Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever."
