Program.

Division 2 Lt. Governor Jeff Schulman was the featured speaker for today.

He spoke about the 6 objects of Kiwanis:

  • Object 1 - To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.
  • Object 2 - To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
  • Object 3 - To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.
  • Object 4 - To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.
  • Object 5 - To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.
  • Object 6 - To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

He then stated that goals are a means of implementing a value. He spoke about the 3 basic values of Kiwanis: love of God, Country and fellow man. Last, but not least, he spoke of the need to recruit new members, especially young people. He said that the average age of Kiwanis members is 60+ years and that membership in on the decline.

Kiwanis Education.

59. The European Federation of Kiwanis International is composed of the eight districts and nondistricted areas of Europe: the Iceland-Faroes, Norden, Netherlands, Belgium-Luxemburg, France-Monaco, Switzerland-Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria, and Italy districts, and areas such as the Iberian peninsula and eastern Europe. The European Federation has more than 1,000 clubs and stages an annual convention to elect federation officers and promote Kiwanis goals and training.
